Welcome to Black Screen 2005.The small festival with the big Impact- This year our screening and events will go on throughout the Autumn season October - December. This is a tribute to Black cinema in association with bfi black world – a revolution on screen. We will be screening the films of pioneering, Black directors. The classic of all Black movies will be screened a new release of Baadassss! We will be dedicating this screening to the memory of Anthony Walker. We are pleased to be using the venue Kumbi Imani right in the heart of Liverpool 8 for our screenings "come see black movies" in association with Black Film Magazine (bfm). Back by popular demand is the HIP HOP workshop hosted by Urbeatz. Plus our education screening in collaboration with National school film week who this year celebrate their tenth birthday. Do come and join us in this special year of Black movies to watch some of the classic films, recently unearthed from the archives of bfi bringing to light films from Somalia , West Africa, and the Caribbean (yes, they did make movies!). We would like to thank our sponsors who’ve continued to support Black screen from year one showing unerring good judgment, and a special thanks to must go to the volunteers without whom the festival would not really happen.
